Our volunteers are motivated and collaborative and share a passion for solving problemsand the sea. We seek individuals inspired by the prospect of developing new technology and driven by the will to make on environmental change. Deep Voice includes five teams: Reserach, Bio-annotations,Development, Product, and Media.

Omer Shoval Shakked
CEO
An experienced product manager who has consulted for Israel’s Sigint Unit (8200) for many years, he holds an Executive MBA from HEC Paris and a graduate degree in psychology and computer science from Tel-Aviv University. Driven by a deep passion for marine conservation, they joined Deep Voice to make a meaningful difference in the preservation and protection of marine life around the world.
Michael Michelachvili
CTO & Co-Founder
Michael is a deep learning researcher specializing in speech and audio domains. He leads a research team at the generative AI startup deepdub.ai and co-founded Deep Voice while serving in the acoustic signature team of the Israeli Air Force. He works alongside the foundation to develop effective, data-driven conservation tools for marine mammals and wildlife in general.
Michael Faran
Head Scientist & Co-Founder
Michael is a physicist and electrical engineer (Psagot program graduate) and a current PhD student in Tel-Aviv university. In the past, Michael served as the acoustic signature team leader of the Israeli Air Force and consulted three startup companies.
Following his keen interest in marine wildlife, Michael has decided to co-found Deep Voice and to make a difference in data-based conservation worldwide.
Daphna Stern
Media & Co-Founder
Daphna graduated (B.A.) with honors in Photographic Communication from the Hadassah College in Jerusalem in 2018. Before attending Hadassah College, Daphna was a Padi and SSI licensed Scuba Diving Instructor. She founded Deep Voice’s media team and now working on establishing a Non-Profit

Amit Galor

Amit is an algorithm engineer/deep learning researcher with experience in underwater acoustics, signal processing, computer vision and machine/deep learning. Graduated from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, with a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering and Physics. Worked as a visiting scholar with the Laboratory for Ocean Acoustics and Ecosystem Sensing at Northeastern University, Boston, MA. Recently finished his Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering at Tel Aviv University with a specialization in signal processing and machine learning.
Tomer Nahshon
ML Researcher
Tomer is a computer vision researcher specializing in images, 3D meshes, optimization, and biological signals. He currently works on algorithms for a dental startup aimed at improving oral health and orthodontic treatment efficiency. His prior experience involved biological signal analysis for cardiovascular patients. Tomer joined Deep Voice driven by his love of nature and a desire to use technology for its protection.
Shai Nahum Gefen
ML Researcher
Shai, ML researcher, specializes in computer vision tasks utilizing DL. Holding a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering and Physics from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology; Experience in Machine Learning across various domains including communication systems, classic signal processing, autonomous driving, and cybersecurity. Motivated by a passion for learning from leading researchers, she has joined the research team in the NGO, aiming to leverage data and DL tools to safeguard marine life.
Racheli Kalian

Racheli is a Marine Biologist who specializes in marine mammal acoustics and behavioral research, conservation and more. Her dream of being a marine mammal researcher and conservationist is a lifelong one, and she has begun fulfilling it by earning a bachelor’s degree in marine biology from Ruppin Academic Center, and now is an M.Sc candidate at Haifa University, doing her thesis in bioacoustics of coral reefs environments. In addition, she has done internships and volunteering positions in marine biology and mammal research around the world. Her passion for this field and especially the wonderful and mysterious world of the whales brought her to volunteer with Deep Voice.

Computer science student with a deep interest in whale conservation. Joined Deep Voice to help develop tools and technologies that can guide us in protecting and understanding the whale population.
Aviv Eckshtein

Aviv is a Marine Biologist who specializes in Marine mammal rescue, rehabilitation, conservation and research. Her effort in improving those magnificent creatures’ welfare started when she was 14 years old. She has worked with a few main mammal veterinarian hospitals in California, volunteered with a research lab in Florida, and assisted with whale and dolphin research projects all around the world. Her passion for Marine Mammals brought her to volunteer with ‘Deep Voice’ in 2019. ‘Deep Voice’ has been a family and a great pride to her professional and personal life.

Boaz has a bachelor’s degree in marine biology from the Ruppin Academic Center. Served as an operations officer in the IDF’s navy’s special forces. During his studies he worked and engaged in scientific sailing & diving. The love for the sea began in the military service and continued in the academic studies in the study of marine mammals.

Content Creator
Tomer is a Content Creator with 20 years of experience in producing, developing and writing for both national and international television producers and channels, news portals and more. Graduated Film and TV studies in Tel Aviv University, Screenwriting Course. Member of the Israeli Screenwriters Guild and The Israeli Academy for Film and Television. As a diver, tree-huger and vegan it was only natural for him to join the media team of Deep Voice to harness his abilities for the cause.

Collaboration Manager
Or is currently serving as an officer in the IMOD DDR&D acoustics branch, and a current Electrical Engineering PhD student in Tel-Aviv University. Or is a graduate of the Master Studies Direct Track Program in Mechanical Engineering, with expertise in wave physics and active wave control via spacetime metamaterials.
Following his passion, Or has decided to use his skills and knowledge to take part in the mission of conserving marine wildlife and join Deep Voice.
Gilad Weil
Project Manager
Gilad has over 8 years of experience developing AI technologies and implementing them in the field and in enterprises. He is an ex-Deloitte business consultant and a senior product manager, working at AI21 Labs, specialising in LLMs for businesses. Gilad holds a strong connection to the ocean and the environment, with a passion for surfing and diving, he often provides tech and business advice to environmental organisations such as WWF and Deep Voice.

Former operations researcher at the IAF and a current computer science Ph.D student at the Weizmann Institute of Science. My work in the foundation focuses on applying operations research methods to quantify and enhance the positive impacts of DeepVoice projects.

Shir has over 5 years of experience as a software product manager, focusing on delivering value and driving positive changeץ. With a “heredity” love for the ocean, enthusiasm for technology, and a passion for the environment, joining Deep Voice was a no-brainer for her.
